GÜRMAT ELECTRIC GENERATION CO. INC.
With an installed capacity of 260 MW, our Geothermal Power Plants which generate the highest power on annual basis in Türkiye by using geothermal resources have been constructed and invested by GÜRİŞ GROUP on behalf of its partnership, GÜRMAT ELECTRIC GENERATION CO. INC. In response to the rapid growth of population and industry, and depending on technological breakthroughs, in Aydin province, Germencik district, Omerbeyli village, the highly technological equipped geothermal power plant has been commissioned to take advantage of renewable energy resources that supersede the conventional energy resources, by providing equipment from the companies which are worldwide expert in their field.
We may summarize the justifications of the Project as follows: generalizing the usage of geothermal sources as purposeful of electrical power production; utilizing the geothermal energy potential available in the Ömerbeyli region to the economy in a reliable, feasible and high-quality manner; increasing the varieties of sources used for power production; and reducing of greenhouse gas emission, including when that power is used for greenhouse cultivation; as well as utilizing waste and protecting the environment.
Regarding the Geothermal Power plants, for the first time “non-recourse” finance at the project basis has been obtained. This financing has been obtained from Akbank, EFG Private Bank, İş Bank, TSKB and Vakiflar Bank, under the leadership of the West LB AG. Since this is a direct financing provided for the Project, it is of considerable importance. Moreover, the project was awarded the 2007 Renewable Energy Finance award as well.
