He was born in 1926 in Çamlıhemşin - ORTAN village of Rize province. Due to the conditions of the region, he was able to start primary school at a later age. His father died when he was 10 years old. After completing primary school, he had to take a one-year break from his education because he could not find a suitable school. He then attended Hopa Secondary School. After completing the second grade, he passed the civil exam and went to Erzurum High School as a public boarding school. He graduated from Erzurum High School in 1945-1946 and entered Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He graduated from ITU in 1952 as a Senior Electrical Engineer. He completed his university education at the faculty with a scholarship from Sümerbank, which operates as an industrial holding company. He started his career during his final year at the university.
Between 1952-1953, he served as an operations engineer in various fields of Çatalağzı (Zonguldak) Thermal Power Plant, which was affiliated with Etibank. Beginning in the autumn of 1953, he completed his 18-month military service as a Reserve Officer. After completing his military service, he obtained the necessary permission from the state and worked in the private sector again. In 1955, he married Türkan Danışoğlu from the village of Çinçiva (Şenyuva) in Çamlıhemsin, Rize. They had two sons, Tevfik Yamantürk and Müşfik Hamdi Yamantürk. In 1956, he resigned from the state and started his freelance career.
In 1957, he established his personal company under the name of İdris Yamantürk.
In 1958, he founded GÜRİŞ.
Since then, GÜRİŞ has successfully carried out the construction of more than 100 projects in Türkiye and abroad, including;

- Irrigation and Water Treatment plants,
- Business Centers and Hotels,
- Roads and Subways,
- Schools Donated to the State.
While remaining actively involved in business at the age of 95, Mr. İdris Yamantürk passed away on February 12, 2021.
